Lent 2025 – Everything [in] Between

March 4, 2025 Letter From Our Pastor By: Pastor Dan Gerrietts

So much of life these days seems to be about polarities.

It’s either “this” or “that.” It’s “Us” vs. “Them.” At the same time, many of us are longing for connection and a deeper meaning to our lives—for truth beyond the politics, assumptions, and narratives that divide us.

This Lent at Trinity, I invite you to explore with us the ways that God is present in between. Using familiar
stories from the Gospel of Luke, we will examine binaries like ‘faith & works,’ or ‘rest & growth,’ or ‘grief & hope.’ We are going to look for the nuance and complexity, and in between where God is often found.

Our journey this Lent at TLC will include weekend worship, Wednesday evening services, and powerful Holy Week gatherings. But this year, we are also inviting all of Trinity to join in a Daily Scripture Challenge. Together we are going to read through the Gospel of Luke using a daily guide put together by Pastor Hanson. You can do this alone or join with others in discussion groups. I really hope you will take this challenge and see the fruit it will bear in your life.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5 with the imposition of ashes at 1:30 & 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary. And, check out the many other ways we plan to serve, learn, and be church together this Lent at Trinity. Our series, “Everything [in] Between,” is for people living in a divided world. It’s for all who seek a spiritual life that engages with complexity instead of avoiding it. It’s for those who want to experience a God who shows up on the edges and everywhere in between.

In Christ,

Pastor Dan Gerrietts
